Zinthia Vázquez Viera reconocida por un cuerpo de trabajo gráfico experimental, nos presenta su más reciente producción en Souvenir de un Mundo Fantástico. En esta nueva producción la artista presenta xilografías y serigrafías intervenidas con esténciles y pintura en aerosol. Aborda sobre los contrastes entre culturas tribales y la popular, trae a colación realidades y aspectos sociales de nivel mundial. Técnicamente experimenta con la superposición de papel y el uso de vinilo impreso, utiliza soportes variados tales como el papel decorativo y los textiles, ahora subordinados a la carga conceptual de la propuesta de corte social. A través de estos juegos iconográficos reflexiona sobre realidades desconocidas y ocultas en el depravado consumismo que compra el glamour impregnado en lo exótico, belleza étnica y cultural que es opacada por una situación real de miseria, explotación y sufrimiento. Souvenir de un Mundo Fantástico incluye también piezas interactivas utilizando magneto sobre metal galvanizado, esta serie ofrece al espectador la oportunidad de cambiar realidades o descubrir que se oculta detrás de las imágenes.

We have seen Zinthia work for some time now and where glad to see this one women show of a fantastic world, made of the diversity of the human family. The work with vivid colors with removable object of the print, were the spectator can rearrange the work, the works of art work well with their pop color and the use of varies support canvas pattern print plastic material. Thanx Zinthia we are always watching, excellent show a must see.

La Escuela de Artes Plásticas celebrará el jueves 4 de noviembre de 2010 a las 6:30pm, la apertura del duodécimo Certamen del Departamento de Escultura de la EAPPR en la Sala de Exhibiciones de la institución que está ubicada en el Antiguo Manicomio de San Juan, frente a frente al Castillo del Morro. La Sala estará abierta al público de lunes a viernes de 8:30 a.m. a 5:00 p.m. y sábado de 9:00 a.m. a 4:00 p.m.

We will start with this,

One of the class of diviners among the Etruscans and Romans, who foretold events by the inspection of the entrails of victims offered on the altars of the gods.

Wow, now here we are with Elizabeth Robles. Now I may get personal, ok no, this work is internal, looking at that which is hard to look at and many will not accept, so the work at times recalls that viscera which we hold inside, when one can separate that initial perception the supple colors of the paraffin wax material which has the ability to show it under paint, and at times, the artist will introduce steel to wax which create a contrast in media. This show is definite a must see, don’t miss it, thanks Elizabeth.

One of the concerns of the artist was not having the ability to show here because her work has been neglected by the commercial and most institutions on the island.  We find that in our “island colony” we have a hard time dealing with the internal and prefer to look at the superficial.   We have known of Elizabeth Robles work for sometime now and are very happy that her work now is available for inspection by the “colony” that so much has tried to suppress her.

Vortex

El pasado jueves ocho de julio tuvo su apertura la colectiva que reúne a 14 artistas interpretando el tema de la ciencia ficción en la Liga de Arte del Viejo San Juan. Conceptualizada como un portafolio gráfico la muestraVortex[cienciarteficción] solicito a los artistas una pieza que podían trabajar en cualquier medio pero su entrega seria un archivo digital o fotográfico para poder realizar el portafolio.  Componen la muestra 14 piezas, en el tamaño 17? x 22?, impresas en la técnica de tinta pigmentada.  El ensayo de la exposición titulado Ciencia: el arte de la ficción esta escrito por la catedrática María Teresa Martínez y la muestra estará disponible para el público hasta el 4 de agosto.  Para aquellos que deseen adquirir el portafolio solo tienen que llamar al 787-404-4438 o al correo electrónico artegiro@gmail.com.

A FRAGMENTED ANOMALY
Teo Freytes and Luis Padreda

Edge Zone Miami Art Center is delighted to host Teo Freytes and Luis Padreda exhibition “A FRAGMENTED ANOMALY”.

In this exhibition the artists will display video, digital art work from Teo Freytes and collages from Luis Padreda.

Teo Freytes, whose art practice spans over 30 years, was one of the first artists to use digital tools as an artistic medium. He is a well known and prolific artist who lives in Puerto Rico, where his works are part of the collection of the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo, Museo de la Universidad de Puerto Rico and local and international collectors. Teo’s art works includes painting, sculpture, photos, engraving, performance . In recent years he has focused almost mainly on digital art, creating a self-reflexive comment on the construction of images. He was also one of the founders of MSA Experimental Space in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He also hostshttp://msa-x.msa-x.org/.

Luis Padreda a solo artist, for his apparent absences in the art scene, but a present spirit in his observations of the ever present image around use. His collages an interesting melee of cut outs reassembled and re-reassembled will delight and confuse the way you think, and see.
